Commuter Motorcycles (under 250cc)
The Bajaj Boxer, Honda CB, TVS, and similar bikes used for personal transport. The most common motorcycle class on Kenyan roads. Affordable comprehensive cover available.
Boda Boda (Commercial Passenger)
Motorcycles used to carry fare-paying passengers. Requires passenger legal liability and is rated as the highest motorcycle risk class. Sacco-affiliated boda boda operators may qualify for group rates.
Delivery Riders
Motorcycles used for goods delivery (food, parcels, e-commerce). Distinct from boda boda — no fare-paying passengers — but still commercial use. Some policies bundle goods-in-transit for the delivery cargo.
Sport & Tour Motorcycles

Real-World Scenarios
Boda boda accident with a passenger injury
Passenger legal liability handles the passenger's injury claim. Without it, the rider carries personal liability — which can run into millions of shillings for serious injuries. This is the single most important cover for any commercial boda boda operator.
Motorcycle stolen at a junction
Comprehensive or TPFT pays out the market value at the time of loss after a police abstract is obtained, less the excess. Theft is the most common boda boda claim, so anti-theft devices and tracking can significantly reduce premium.
Delivery rider hits a pedestrian
Third-party bodily injury (unlimited) handles the medical and any compensation claim. The rider's WIBA cover (employer's responsibility for any commercial rider) handles the rider's own injuries.
